Where Can I Get Certificate of Employment, and How to Certify It
Where can I get certificate of employment in the UAE? From the company that employed you. It is their letter, so only they can issue the original. Once you hold it, we certify a true copy in house: our own licensed lawyers and legal consultants check your original and certify the copy, in person at our office, online or on a home visit.
WhatsApp +971 52 484 1790 if you already have the letter and need the copy certified.

What a Certificate of Employment Is
A certificate of employment is a letter from an employer that confirms you worked for them. It normally shows your job title and the dates you worked there. Some employers add your salary or a short note about your duties.
The catch most people miss is that a copy of this letter is not accepted everywhere. A new employer, a university, an embassy or a bank may ask for a certified true copy, so keep the original safe and do not staple, laminate or write on it.
Where Can I Get Certificate of Employment: Asking Your Employer for One
Start with the human resources team or your line manager. A short written request is the safer route, because you then have a record of when you asked.
- Write to HR and say which letter you need: employment, experience or salary.
- Give your full name as it appears on your passport, your job title and your dates of service.
- Say where the letter will be used, for example a job abroad or a visa file.
- Ask for it on company letterhead, signed and stamped by the company.
- Check the name, dates and job title before you leave with it.
Ask for the original, not a scan. A certified copy is made from the original, so a scan or a photo cannot be certified in its place.
If the Company Has Closed
Sometimes the employer no longer exists, or nobody answers. Try the former manager, the HR contact or the owner of the business, and ask them to sign a letter on whatever letterhead remains. Some people also keep old contracts, offer letters and payslips, which can support a request.
We cannot issue an employment letter for a company we did not work for. What we can do is certify a true copy of a document you already hold. If you are unsure what the receiving office will accept in your case, ask that office first, then call or WhatsApp us.
What to Bring
- The original employment, experience or salary letter, unlaminated.
- Your passport or Emirates ID.
- Any extra copies you need, so we can confirm the number with you.
- The name of the office or employer that will receive the copy.

Experience, Salary and Employment Certificates Compared
These three letters are often mixed up. The names vary between companies, so check what the receiving body actually asks for.
| Letter | What it usually shows | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Employment certificate | You work or worked there, with job title and dates | Visa files, banks, new employers |
| Experience certificate | Your past roles and length of service | Job applications, professional bodies |
| Salary certificate | Your pay, usually with your job title | Bank requests, loans, visa files |
If one letter has to cover two purposes, ask your employer to include both the dates and the salary lines. Do not edit the letter yourself.
When a Certified True Copy Is Needed
You need a certified copy when you must keep the original but hand a copy to someone who wants proof that it matches. This often happens with a job abroad, where the new employer asks for a certified copy of your employment history.
A certified true copy is a lawyer’s function. It is not the same as notarization by a notary public, and it is not MOFAIC attestation. If the receiving body asks for either of those, treat it as a separate step. Our page on certified true copy vs notarization vs attestation shows how the three differ.
For documents going through MOFAIC, the MOFAIC attestation page says the original must be in Arabic or English, or come with a legally certified translation, and it must not be laminated. MOFAIC fees are AED 150 for personal documents, and this is separate from our own fee.
If a degree certificate is also part of the application, see our guide on a certified true copy of a degree for employment.

It confirms that you worked for the company. It usually shows your job title and dates of service, and some employers add salary details. The content depends on what your employer chooses to include.
Not always. Many companies use the two names for similar letters, but an experience certificate usually describes your roles and length of service. Check the wording the receiving office asks for, and ask your employer for that exact name.
Often yes, but it depends on the new employer or the embassy. Ask them whether they want a certified copy, notarization or MOFAIC attestation, since these are separate steps. Our page on certified true copy services for individuals explains what we do.
